Thanks for joining me on my journey.  It may not be what you’re used to, or what you expect, but this is my world.  While it’s a normal world in every sense, the edges may be blurred a bit; maybe you see something out of the corner of your eye that disappears when you look at it directly.  Maybe you feel the presence of something or someone you cannot see.  The light may dim ever so slightly, or colors change on a whim.  Don’t be surprised when you find yourself in a place that doesn’t feel quite as safe, quite as sane. That’s when you realize – you are ON THE BRINK.

Lulu Review:

By Teresa Tummillo-Goy

Brought to us by veteran editor Dorothy Davies, “Bringing It Back” is an entertaining collection of well written stories loosely connected by a common theme. The anthology is well balanced and each story is worthy of its inclusion. I found several especially memorable. In “Smokin’”, Ken Goldman takes us on a delightful trip to the bygone days of rock. Australian author R.A. Goli offers “Fingers To The Bone”. A disturbing tale that left me looking for more of her work. “The Chamber Revisited” is a heartbreaking poem by Patricia Purvis and some creepy revenge is suggested in Dorothy Davies own “Back Where I Belong”. Pets don’t always come back the same in Dan Allen’s “Missing Things”. Creepy and unforgettable. Tragedies of war return to haunt an Afghanistan vet in “Cursed” by Jeff Dossier. I found this haunting story especially creative. “Blood Urge” by Gerald E. Sheagren is a sexy love story I won’t soon forget. James Pyne’s “The Monster in the Fog” reminds us to be careful who we invite into our homes and make sure you save “Hard to Swallow” by Chris Rodriguez until after you’ve eaten dinner. Well written flash fiction by John Howe, Eugen Bacon, and Rie Sheridan Rose round out the pacing. The anthology ends with a terrifying tribute to a serial killer from long ago in Justin Boote’s “Bringing Them Back” In all there are 37 creepy and sometimes humorous stories from terrific authors. I give “Bringing It Back” 5 stars and I would recommend this anthology for anyone who likes their fiction a little on the dark side.

Experience the Magic of Storytelling!

This special anthology is the first one created to deliver that special magic to adults struggling with memory loss, their families, friends and caregivers.

Step into 60 original flash fiction stories that are short enough, between 500 and 750 words, to recall. Get carried along a path of unexpected plots that warm the heart, give chills, stir laughter and surprise.

Meet memorable characters who despite life circumstances reach higher and set their own course; characters who influence opinions about people and situations; characters who inspire.

Peer through the window into a world of emotions. From the aching loss on a one-lane bridge to the tangled memories that fill an empty box, each story in this collection leads you step by step through heartache and hope, until you realize that you’re not looking through a window at all, but into a mirror.”
—Monica Sanchez, PhD, Co-editor, Storytelling: Interdisciplinary and Intercultural Perspectives.

Read flash fiction by established and emerging writers from the United States and the United Kingdom who come with a rainbow of backgrounds — organic farmers and backyard chicken farmers, a retired judge, university professors, visual artists, poets, actors and screenwriters, musicians, dog lovers, pastry chefs, a handful of bartenders, a former morgue attendant, obituary writer— each one with a compelling story to tell.

Enjoy the evocative photographs that accompany several stories. Images touch the heart in a way that words and the mind cannot reach.

So, dive in, read to your loved one, and share with family and friends.

Connect, converse and share the magic of storytelling!

Praise for The Way to My Heart

“Let these works of literature remind us that food and drink intrinsically link us to memory. With just a sip of a wine, you can be transported to a first date, a bedside in Paris, or a tapas bar in Spain. In reading these sexy and honest works of fiction and poetry, it is hard not to make a beeline to the kitchen for a little amuse-bouche or nightcap, so just give in. Pour a little Pinot Noir and indulge in this evocative collection.”
